Metlakatla is a remote community located approximately 5 km Northwest of the City of Prince Rupert, and is accessible by the Metlakatla Ferry Service. Metlakatla is a reserve community and closed to the public, so if you would like to visit, please contact the Metlakatla Governing Council to obtain permission. The Metlakatla Development Corporation began in 1987 with the establishment of the Metlakatla Ferry Service. The ferry service was first initiated to supply safe transportation to school for the youth of Metlakatla.
